Mayor Genisot reports that a problem has occurred with the installation of the wall panels at the new REC Center;
Proposed plans to remediate these issues were studied over the last three months and to date have been determined to be unsatisfactory;
The City plans to re-bid the wall panel installation unless a settlement is reached shortly with the parties involved;
This will delay the opening of the facility until later this year as new bid specifications must be written/replacement panels must be ordered/work has to be performed;
The City has retained outside counsel to pursue all available legal remedies.
The Common Council, in open session, authorized the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the City’s architect to prepare new bid specifications to remove and replace wall panels assuming no settlement is reached shortly with the parties involved, and retain a structural engineer to assist in that process if necessary.
